2001 Season - Week 12
Phil’s Best Friend
It certainly isn’t Steve Christie, that much I can tell you. Christie was selected by Phil is the First round of the draft only for him to pull a muscle 3 days before the start of the season and be cut by Buffalo. This left Phil without a Kicker, traditionally the highest scoring position in BUMS football for the first four weeks of the season. Before week 5 Phil signed San Diego kicker Wade Richey who scored 44 points in the next 6 weeks but after he missed 2 Field Goals in a 3 point loss to Arizona last Sunday San Diego have signed a new kicker to try PAT’s and Field Goals leaving Richey to kick off and attempt very long Field Goal attempts only. The name of their new kicker, yup... former Buffalo Bill Steve Christie.
7-a-Side Football
Phil may find it difficult to stay in the Premiership whilst only having 7 scoring players. John and Aaron were joint favorites to take the drop (until Aaron’s 34 point week this week) and both have missed a player nearly all season long. John has been carrying Baltimore RB Jamal Lewis all year after his new Franchise man was placed on IR in the preseason. John scored 40 points the week prior to Trading Day 2 and felt his team was coming around so decided to retain all of his players. Since that 40 point week his team have been unable to keep pace with the Jailbreak we’ve seen the last few weeks. This week John has scored 15 points with Garrison Hearst still to play on Sunday Night. Aaron lost the first pick in the draft Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor early in the second game of the season and Fred was reported to be out 3-5 weeks. That was misleading. He’s missed 3 weeks after being listed as Questionable. That means he has a 75% chance of playing. Aaron did not cut him because prior to Trading Day 2 Fred had returned to training earlier that week and he’d been listed as Questionable. Now some people are wondering out loud whether The Jaguars are cheating the Injury Report List by making opponents plan their defensive schemes to defend Taylor rather than lesser back Stacey Mack. For a fourth week in a row Fred is listed as Questionable for MNF at home to Green Bay.
